Our
largest and most successful development, Meadowbrook Lakes
is the result of a close collaboration between Logan City
Council and Griffith University's Logan Campus. We set out
to develop a quality community that could interact with the
university and at the same time reflect the environmental
values of the adjoining Logan golf course and wildlife habitat.
We put a lot of thought into this development, as we wanted
to lift the level to what we thought this location deserved.
Wide landscaped streets, mixed home lot sizes designed to
take advantage of a northerly aspect, golf course and lakeside
living, an environment enhanced by over 52 exotic native shrubs,
trees and groundcover, and provision of broadband into the
estate which gave each and every house the option of high-speed
communication access.
Working with Griffith University, we constructed facilities
designed to lift the profile of the university including the
4.5 hectare lake and expansive sports ovals.
In concert with Logan City Comiskey Corporation allocated
29% (11 hectares) of land to the protection of the environment
including a wildlife corridor to enable the continued access
of kangaroos and koalas from the creek system to the golf
course. This land was over and above parkland already allocated
to help build the prestige and value of the area.
The market agreed with our vision in the end, we sold the
entire estate out two years early. In fact within 20 months
of the first stage going on sale, the whole estate ñ some
278 allotments ñ were all sold. Meadowbrooks Estate was a
finalist in the 2003 UDIA Awards, and it's a development we're
very proud of.
